Tuesday was a big day for Heavener’s soccer teams. Not only did Heavener sweep Mena in the two matches that day, the Wolves found out they won the district championship in soccer for the first time in some 10 years after Rejoice Christian defeated Bristow that same evening. Heavener was tied with Victory Christian and Bristow going into Tuesday with the Wolves holding the tiebreaker thanks to a win over Victory Christian. Since Bristow lost, the Wolves are going into the playoffs as district champions and will get two playoff games at home, if they win the first playoff contest, which is scheduled for around May 1 at Harvey Stadium. The Wolves are 7-1 overall, 4-1 in district play and are expected to play Commerce in the opening round of the playoffs.
