Riddley runs wild late in Heavener win By CRAIG HALL Heavener used a second-half rally to defeat Valliant, 37-14, for the Wolves’ first win over the Bulldogs since 2015 and also used the victory to start the season 3-1 for the first time since 2012. To do so, the Wolves went to the passing game for the first time this season, got a big game again by P.J. Riddley and returned one kick for a touchdown and had two other kick returns nullified by penalties. After celebrating a homecoming win before a large crowd, made even larger by the alumni who had returned for a reunion, Heavener is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. The Wolves are home again next week against Eufaula before going on the road four of the five weeks of the year.

In addition to hosting a team the Wolves have not defeated since 2015 with the Bulldogs winning seven straight over Heavener. In addition to Heavener hosting what Coach Jeff Broyles describes as its toughest opponent so far this season, the Wolves have the added distraction of the game being Heavener’s homecoming. Heavener is 2-1 and with a couple of breaks would be 3-0. Valliant is 2-1 and coming off a blowout loss to Lone Grove. Both teams had byes last week. Heavener’s game and homecoming activities will be livestreamed on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@HeavenerPublicSchool. The game will be on the same channel via the school's HUDL camera along with broadcasting with audio on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/heavenerpublicschools/ and YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@lcjvideos63

A group of HHS BPA Members traveled to Oklahoma City Wednesday to participate in the Business Professionals of America Dodgers Day. This group of students represented Heavener well both as BPA members and as respectful leaders in society. Heavener is proud to say that we received compliments from adults outside the school system who did not know our students but were impressed by their respectful and courteous behavior. Thank you BPA students for representing us so well!
